Brett K Matheson, MD, FACMS, was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, and received a Bachelor's Degree from Brigham Young University. He received his Medical Degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. After graduating from Georgetown, he served nine years as a medical officer in the United States Navy, including two tours to Japan. He completed his dermatology residency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego and a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. Dr. Matheson was the first fellowship-trained Mohs Surgeon to establish a practice in Colorado Springs. Dr. Matheson is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and a fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery. Dr. Matheson is board certified in Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery. He is an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and has lectured at many national medical meetings. In 2000 he settled in Colorado Springs, where three previous generations lived. When not working, Dr. Matheson enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters. Dr. Matheson is fluent in Japanese.
